Frank P. Coolen: Frank Coolen is Professor of Statistics at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Durham University (UK). His main areas of research are statistical methods using imprecise probabilities, in particular he introduced and developed Nonparametric Predictive Inference, and reliability theory, where he introduced the concept of survival signature to facilitate quantification of reliability of large systems and networks. In these areas,Frank works closely together with his wife and colleague Tahani Coolen-Maturi. Further research interests and activities are in the fields of foundations of statistics, decision theory, operations research and risk.

Frank has supervised more than 40 students to successful completion of PhD studies, and serves the research community through involvements with organisation of many conferences and participating in research funding panels. He is member of editorial boards of many journals, including the Communication in Statistics journals, the Journal of Statistical Theory and Practice, Journal of Risk and Reliability, and Quality and Reliability Engineering International.
